The CityARC Action Research/Performance projects undertaken by Astra Howard range in subject matter and scale from small personal interventions to more extended interactive durational works. Experimental in approach, the projects contain a deep and ongoing interest in, and interrogation of, city public spaces and the people who occupy them as well as the theorists and writers who contribute to the urban narrative. Projects on this website have been ordered chronologically from 1998 to the present, however, there is an interrelatedness of ideas, themes and forms that run across years, cities and continents. Each project inevitably includes a larger backstory, with more information, further images and video documentation accessible on request.
